Jean Skelton MSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Jean Skelton (she/her), a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and psychotherapist at Connected Roots Therapy. I work with teens, families and parents/caregivers who are seeking greater connection, emotional safety, and stronger, more secure relationships, especially during times that feel heavy, uncertain, or overwhelming.
I’m especially passionate about supporting families formed through adoption, kinship care, foster care, Customary Care, and blended family life. These family journeys often hold both deep love and real loss, and my goal is to create a therapy space where all parts of that experience are welcomed and understood. I know that attachment and family dynamics can be complex, and that past experiences, including trauma and disrupted relationships, can shape how we connect with ourselves and one another.
My work is trauma-informed and attachment-based, and I specialize in Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach, supporting children, teens, adults, and families in building trust, increasing emotional safety, and creating meaningful, lasting change in their relationships.
I’m recognized as an adoption-competent therapist and have completed the Adoption Competency Training through the Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO). With warmth, curiosity, and care, I support individuals and families in navigating challenges, strengthening relationships, and creating space for healing, hope, and connection.
